National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society

So you are now looking at the new Media and Communications officer at the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS). Hi!

The last few weeks have been so interesting. Coming from an agency background into the charity sector, I am feeling very excited to start making a difference in the world of RA.

NRAS is the only charity in the UK providing support, information and advocacy for people with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, their families, friends and carers. It is also a resource for health professionals with an interest in rheumatology and work closely with rheumatology teams across the UK.

The media profile of the charity needs expanding on both a national and a local front. With our volunteer network and group meetings all over the UK taking place, it is important that local journalists know about the NRAS groups in their area. There is an estimated 650,000 people living with RA in the UK and NRAS currently holds just over 4000 members. The potential for growth at NRAS is tremendous. Wouldn't it be great if everyone living with the disease in the UK knew that they could embrace incredible support, knowledge and advocacy from the hardworking team here at NRAS?

I am always looking for case studies and stories to feature in our NRAS magazine so if this post jumps out at you, please do contact me on daniela@nras.org.uk.

Thank you x
